Now That You Ask

Terms of service

Last updated: September 30, 2026.

What we provide

Now That You Ask places a weekly phone call from an AI interviewer to the storyteller you name, writes a chapter from each conversation, shows the chapters and recordings on a private family page, and prints a hardcover book when the volume is complete.

Your promises when you sign up

The storyteller is in charge

On the first call, the interviewer explains that it is an AI and that the call is recorded, and asks for a clear yes. Without it, nothing is kept. If the storyteller ever says "stop calling", we stop for good, and the family cannot turn the calls back on. We will refund the unused part of a yearly plan if the storyteller says no or asks us to stop.

What the interviewer does not do

It is not a person, a doctor, a counselor, a lawyer or an emergency service. It gives no advice. If a storyteller seems unwell or mentions an emergency, the interviewer tells them to call 911 (or the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline), ends the call, and we email the family. Please do not rely on Now That You Ask to check on someone's safety.

Plans and payment

The book and the chapters

Chapters are written from the storyteller's own words by AI and may contain mistakes of hearing or order. You can hide any chapter from the book and edit the title, dedication and closing note before printing. You own the stories and the book. We keep a copy only to provide the service, until you delete it.

Ending the service

You can cancel any time from the family page. You can delete everything with one click. We may suspend an account that is used to call someone without their agreement.

Limits

The service is provided as is. Calls can fail for reasons outside our control (phone networks, missed calls, voicemail). Our total liability is limited to what you paid in the last 12 months. Nothing here limits rights you have under the law of your state.
